Parks in the Shuswap

1. There are several common boating and canoeing destinations in British Columbia's Southern Interior for vacationers. Amongst her many common destination is Shuswap Lake Marine Provincial Park. Only sites which are both road accessible plus water-access are in Shuswap Marine Park. All of the Park's locations, located around the lake's outskirts, offer excellent fishing and water sports. At a number of spots, nature study and climbing attract tourists.

2. Look at salmon spawn at Shuswap Lake Provincial Park, one of the common trip spots in the Shuswap. From mid-August to mid-September, the spectacular view of salmon spawning could be seen by canoe around the entrance of the Seymour River. And that is only one of the thrilling things to do in the summer at Shuswap Lake Provincial Park. Come and experience it: camping, picnicking, fishing, swimming, boating, paddling, sailing, windsurfing, house boating, water-skiing, nature study, and photography. With 7 miles (12 km) of paved road, bicycling is all the rage. Hike through the lovely forests of Aspen and Douglas Fir. Visit the site of an old gold-rush town. Enjoy the customer programs. To arrive at the Park, on Hwy 1 travel eleven miles (seventeen kilometers) from Chase northeast to Scotch Creek. From there, the Park is located forty miles (Sixty-five kilometers) up a logging road.

3. The excellent place to visit if you are looking for stillness and quiet and loads of sandy beaches is the Silver Beach Provincial Park. The proper vacation spot for those interested in a complete get-away could go to Park, which is positioned far away from Hwy 1. The seclusion makes it a preferred scene for houseboaters. The lake boasts seashores, stunning forests, and lots of wildlife. The Park is a safe place for beavers, bears, and river otters. For visitors interested in nature study, an interpretive area offers explanations along the way. Silver Beach Park is located on Shuswap Lake at the head of Seymour Arm. The park is accessed by a long gravel road.

4. Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park is situated on the Adams River and is the location of the West Coast's leading sockeye salmon run. The Park is named for the preservationist that devoted himself to saving the natural world, involving sockeye salmon, which is so vital to the province's economy. Roderick Haig-Brown was additionally an angler, magistrate, and author. The Park is 2,440 acres (988 ha) and includes the entire river. River otters, beavers, and bears are plenteous. From Kamloops drive east on Hwy 1 for fourty one miles (sixty-six km) to Monte Creek, turn north to Squilax. Follow the park signs three miles (five km) north of Squilax.

5. A 176-hectare park at the junction of the four arms of Shuswap Lake at Cinnemousun Narrows is the Cinnemousun Narrows Provincial Park. The Park could boast of a marine sani-station and four wharves for boaters. Visitors are attracted to this Park by its extended, lovely sandy seaside. Campers can select from 28 walk-in campsites, with basic facilities.
